Healing Herbs...


Adding flavorful herbs in your cooling may do more than provide enjoyment to your meal. Researchers at the U.S. Department of Agriculture evaluates a number of culinary and medicinal herbs and found that many are packed with key antioxidants that can provide protection from heart disease , some cancers and some of the effect of aging. Among the herbs that were found to be effective sources of these antioxidants were sage, dill, savory, Coriander, Thyme, rosemary and oregano, with oregano possessing high antioxidant activities, not only were the antioxidant properties in some of the herbs higher than the reported value of vitamin E and they even beat out well-known antioxidant-rich foods such ad berries and some vegetables. While the researchers aren’t suggesting you forego your antioxidant rich fruits, vegetables and grains in favor of meal of oregano and thyme, it is good to know that the addition of these herbs may boost your health even more. Claims that oregano can cure a variety of disease, however, are not supported by scientific research. In India most of the food they consume are herbs, which have the natural healing power, thus Indians consider that their food itself has too many medical values.
